through the paces of an unorthodox yet effective training regime.
Here at ECA our training is sports specific and puts a huge emphasis on functional
training.
What is Functional Training?
Functional training is a system of training which leads to better muscular balance
and joint stability. The benefits arise from the use of training that emphasises
the body's natural ability to move in three anatomical planes of motion.
In comparison, though machines can often be safer to use, they restrict movements
to a single plane of motion, which is an unnatural form of movement for the body
and may potentially lead to faulty movement patterns or injury.
The types of training we embark on steer clear from the standard resistance training
machines which are of limited use for functional training as their fixed patterns
rarely mimic natural movements. They focus the efforts on a single muscle group
rather than engaging the stabilizers & peripheral muscles.
Elite Combat Athletes will get you training using the tools of our trade, such as;
Speed and Heavy Ropes, dumbbells, medicine ball, kettlebells, resistance bands,
sand bags, Thai pads, weighted bar, gymnastic rings etc, to name a few.
